Blangah Rise Primary: Batik painting workshop

This week also saw the completion of another 10-week programme for batik painting. The Primary 4 students of Blangah Rise Primary underwent our basic batik painting programme successfully. Based on our past year experiences, we made some modifications to our batik painting pedagogy for primary school children. With the objective of making it safe, exciting and fun. I thank Mr. Rudy Djoharnaen and Ms. Syahira for assisting me here.
We taught 120 students here and together with Bukit Panjang Primary, the team had to deal with almost 600 students weekly on top of all the other short programmes at other schools. Woooohooo! We’re done and I’m off to the NCN convention in Reno, Nevada, USA.

  1. I’m preparing a free, non-commercial workshop for artists in Seattle, WA, USA on March 9, 2010 and am looking for an image of kids doing art. I love the photo titled “kids having fun making batik in art class” and was wondering if I could use it in my PowerPoint presentation. The focus of the workshop is on safe chemical handling techniques to protect artists and their families. I would, of course, be very happy to provide attribution for use of the image. Keep up the great work!

  2. Hi Mr. Kamal
i am currently working on a holiday project which involves designing a cultural heritage tour of singapore and i thought batik painting might be interesting to include.
is it convenient if i ask about the price for a session for around 30 people (inclusive of rental of studio and equipment etc.)?
    please reply!
    thank you(:

  3. Thanks Kamal and Dino for teaching my p4s. They had the time of their lives! Some of their works are amazing. They may not be easy to handle but you guys did a fine job. Thanks again.
