Learning About Colours in the Malay World. (Warna-warni di alam Melayu)

Our Malay Language month activity ‘Warna-warni bicara seni’ was well attended by enthusiast family groups that learnt more about colours in the Malay language through a batik painting workshop with colour mixing exercises and relating to hues and Malay definition of the term usually compare to nature.

Young and old learns together and bond as a family.

The family also completes a collaborative family art piece that will be colour treated to make the dye permanent and the wax removed so they can display or use it at home.

We include here an excerpt video of how participants are taught the term ‘sawo matang’ (tan in English).

Watch to the end to find out how Google would have translated the term ‘sawo matang’.
